The 5 Pillars are the outward signs of Islam and a devout muslim must practise and uphold the five pillars. They are:

The Shahadah - The outer practices of DIN in Islam are founded upon the affirmation – SHAHADAH that there is one true God and Muhammad is the prophet of God.

Salat (Prayer) -  regular acknowledgement of the one and only God through prayer. SALAT is performed at least 5 times a day as passed down by Muhammad.
 

Zakat (Charity) - Alms giving, minimum amounts laid down.
 

Sawm (Fasting) - Regular fasting with the obligatory fasting being the month of Ramadan.
 

Hajj (Pilgrimage) - At least once in your
 life to Makkah.

1.         Based on self-discipline, Islam provides a complete way of transaction with oneself and creation. 

2.         The DIN is based on the acceptance of and submission to Allah and is called ISLAM.

3.         Then follows the application of all Islamic teachings so that faith and trust in Allah covers every action this is called IMAN.

4.         When the two come together then the state of IHSAN has been reached.

5.         The outer practices of DIN in Islam are founded upon the affirmation – SHAHADAH  & the remaining four pillars.

THE CREED - SHAHADAH

1.          Testimony that there is only one God – 
the creed means witnessing that every situation emanates from the One source.

2.         The message of the Quran is not for any specific people or geographical area it is for all mankind.
