The Resurrection

The timeline below shows important dates in Jesus' life. The dates are guidelines, as it is very difficult for us to give exact dates. Scholars argue as to when Jesus was born and when he died (30-35 CE). BCE stands for: Before the Common Era. CE stands for: Common Era.

6-4 BCE 5-4 CE 4 CE 7-8 CE 12 CE
Birth of Jesus Escape to Egypt.
Slaughter of 
children by Herod.
  Herod the Great
   dies (spring).
  Jesus visits Jerusalem (the Temple) as a child.   Augustus makes 
   Tiberius
   co-regent.
14 CE 26 CE 26-27 CE 30 CE 36 AD
Tiberius
   becomes Caesar
   (August 19th).
  Pilate &
   Caiaphas
   appointed to
   office.
 Jesus' ministry
   begins and is
   baptized in the
   Jordan.
  Jesus dies (Friday, April 3rd, 3:00pm). It takes 6 hours.   Pilate
   dethroned. 
   Caiaphas
   deposed.
